About Jon
Jonathan is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and cinematographer born in New York City. His path began at NYU’s Graduate Film Program. Jon’s short film Picasso Would’ve Made a Glorious Waiter won the Student Academy Award, the Student Emmy Award, and more than two dozen festival prizes.
His feature documentary Sex Magic was distributed by IFC Films and earned top honors at the Chicago and Philadelphia Int’l Film Festivals and developed a reputation as one of the most-watched documentaries ever to air on the Sundance Channel.
Over the past twenty-eight years, Jon has worked across documentaries, narrative film, commercials, and television. He has collaborated with Academy Award–winning directors and continues to find success through contributing to a wide range of projects. He spent seven seasons shaping the visual style and chronicling the tumultuous lives of the cast of the hit TV series Welcome to Plathville.
Now living in Los Angeles, Jon continues his passionate, cinematic pursuit of revealing character and humanity in all its corresponding visual splendor and complexity.
Jonathan is the proud father of two great kids, who happen to be great photographers in their own right; Adali and Genevieve.
